Assistive Tech: As Easy as 1, 2, 3!
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government initiative that provides support to eligible people with permanent and significant disability. It helps fund reasonable and necessary supports to help people achieve their goals.
At LowCostAT, we are committed to supporting NDIS participants in accessing the products they need. Many of our products may be claimable through your NDIS plan, especially those marked 'NDIS Claims Ready'.
This guide provides information on how you might use your NDIS funding to purchase products from our store. Please note, this information is for general guidance only.
Products that are commonly claimed by NDIS participants and align with NDIS guidelines are marked with an 'NDIS Claims Ready' indicator. You can find this indicator on product collection pages and on the individual product pages themselves.
Disclaimer on Eligibility: While we mark products as 'NDIS Claims Ready' based on common use and general NDIS criteria, the final decision on whether a product is a 'reasonable and necessary' support rests with the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) or your NDIS planner/support coordinator. Eligibility depends on your individual NDIS plan, your goals, and how the product relates to your disability needs.
If you self-manage your NDIS funding, you have flexibility in how you purchase supports:
Follow these steps if your NDIS funds are plan-managed:
If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed (Agency-managed), you generally need to use NDIS registered providers.
As an NDIS Registered Provider (Provider Number: 4-JVHDRC8), we can directly process orders for NDIA-managed participants. By completing an NDIS checkout order with your NDIS participant number, we can assist you with the NDIS service booking and payment process.
To assist with your NDIS claims, our invoices (and quotes, if requested) will typically include:
If your Plan Manager or the NDIS requires specific wording or item codes on the invoice/quote, please let us know when requesting a quote or before finalizing your order, and we will do our best to accommodate.
Please note: If you are purchasing a VR headset intended for use with Virtual Reality Therapy services, specific usage terms apply. These headsets are for therapeutic use only and not for general gaming. This condition is noted on the product page, and by purchasing, you agree to these terms. This is important for ensuring the product aligns with therapeutic goals often associated with NDIS funding for such devices.
If you have any questions about purchasing our products with NDIS funding, or if you require a formal quote for your Plan Manager, please don't hesitate to contact us:
Please include the product names/links and, if applicable, your NDIS participant number (for quotes to Plan Managers/NDIA) to help us assist you efficiently.
