Using Your NDIS Funding With Us | Information & Claim Guide

Understanding NDIS & How We Can Help

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government initiative that provides support to eligible people with permanent and significant disability. It helps fund reasonable and necessary supports to help people achieve their goals.

At LowCostAT, we are committed to supporting NDIS participants in accessing the products they need. Many of our products may be claimable through your NDIS plan, especially those marked 'NDIS Claims Ready'.

NDIS Claims Ready

This guide provides information on how you might use your NDIS funding to purchase products from our store. Please note, this information is for general guidance only.

Finding NDIS Claims Ready Products on Our Site

Products that are commonly claimed by NDIS participants and align with NDIS guidelines are marked with an 'NDIS Claims Ready' indicator. You can find this indicator on product collection pages and on the individual product pages themselves.

Disclaimer on Eligibility: While we mark products as 'NDIS Claims Ready' based on common use and general NDIS criteria, the final decision on whether a product is a 'reasonable and necessary' support rests with the NDIA (National Disability Insurance Agency) or your NDIS planner/support coordinator. Eligibility depends on your individual NDIS plan, your goals, and how the product relates to your disability needs.

Steps to Purchase & Claim

For Self-Managed NDIS Plans

If you self-manage your NDIS funding, you have flexibility in how you purchase supports:

  1. Purchase Directly: You can purchase 'NDIS Claim Ready' products directly from our website like any other customer.
  2. Keep Your Invoice: After purchase, you will receive a tax invoice from us via email. Keep this safe.
  3. Claim from NDIS: Submit a claim through the NDIS myplace portal (or app) using your invoice to be reimbursed from your NDIS plan budget. Ensure the product aligns with your NDIS plan goals.

Using Your Plan-Managed NDIS Funds

Follow these steps if your NDIS funds are plan-managed:

  1. Get a Go-Ahead from Your Plan Manager: Before you contact us, please check with your Plan Manager. Ensure the item(s) align with your NDIS plan and that they can pay an invoice from LowCostAT.
  2. Ready to Order? Browse our store and go through the NDIS checkout process.
  3. We Handle the Invoicing: We'll set up your order and send the invoice straight to your Plan Manager.
  4. Order Shipped After Payment: We'll send out your items as soon as your Plan Manager completes the payment.

For NDIA-Managed (Agency-Managed) NDIS Plans

If your NDIS funding is NDIA-managed (Agency-managed), you generally need to use NDIS registered providers.

As an NDIS Registered Provider (Provider Number: 4-JVHDRC8), we can directly process orders for NDIA-managed participants. By completing an NDIS checkout order with your NDIS participant number, we can assist you with the NDIS service booking and payment process.

Key Things to Remember

  • Your NDIS Plan is Key: The most important factor is how a product aligns with the specific goals outlined in your NDIS plan.
  • Reasonable & Necessary: All NDIS funding must meet the 'reasonable and necessary' criteria (e.g., related to your disability, value for money, effective and beneficial).
  • Talk to Your Support Network: We always recommend discussing potential purchases with your NDIS planner, support coordinator, Local Area Coordinator (LAC), or allied health professional to ensure suitability and correct claiming procedures.
  • This is General Advice: The information on this page is for general guidance only and does not constitute financial or NDIS planning advice. NDIS rules and guidelines can change.
  • Official NDIS Resources: For the most current and official information, please refer to the official NDIS website (ndis.gov.au) or contact the NDIS directly.

Specific Terms & Conditions for VR Headsets

Please note: If you are purchasing a VR headset intended for use with Virtual Reality Therapy services, specific usage terms apply. These headsets are for therapeutic use only and not for general gaming. This condition is noted on the product page, and by purchasing, you agree to these terms. This is important for ensuring the product aligns with therapeutic goals often associated with NDIS funding for such devices.
